What a crazy, long, thought provoking January. I think I have accepted that my life is sort of in a state of limbo, but I’m okay with it. Like 90% of all twenty something year olds, I am completely unsure of what I am doing. However, I do know one thing. Life is short but sweet for certain (thanks Dave Matthews). If you want to do something, do it. If you want to move to Hawaii, move to Hawaii. It may be naive, it may be stupid, it may be irresponsible, but I don’t want to live constantly preparing for the future, I want to live for the right now. That being said, I’m making moves.
And Hawaii it is.
*(Picture is of Thailand – have no pictures of Hawaii…yet – but figured it was close enough)
Boston really is beautiful in the winter. But it sure is cold…real cold.
That being said, I think it’s time for my next adventure.
A glum day in Boston…nothing a little reggae and some Costa Rica reminiscing can’t fix.
Last year, right around this time, I was fortunate enough to have been able to raise money, with the help of generous friends and family, to send me on a volunteer trip to Costa Rica. Here I was able to devote a month of my time to help those who’s problems far exceed my own, to step back from my life and realize that the world is so much bigger than the little bubble in which I live, and to ultimately do some much needed soul searching.
During my short time in the country I was able to do a few weekend trips exploring the amazing region. Rastafarian beach town, Puerto Viejo, definitely topped the list (hence my music choice of the morning).
Friendly, laid back, beautiful, carefree… someone remind me why I ever left? If you’re ever in Costa Rica, I definitely recommend a few days in Puerto Viejo for a perfect withdrawal from the chaos of life’s realities and a great opportunity to appreciate good company and genuine beauty.
One Love 🙂
